""I had been wanting and doing research on Digital SLR's for a few months now. This was my first SLR, so I wanted to make sure I could get something that would be easy to use but at the same time give me great pictures. I found the Nikon D60. This camera is awesome!! It takes great pictures, colors are right on money. Definitely worth the price. Took great pictures over the Christmas holiday. Pictures that regular point and shoot digital cameras could not capture. I recommend this camera to everyone. If your a beginner, I encourage you to join the dslr family, you will love it!"

"Nikon D60 is a great camera for those wanting more than a point & shoot. The lens is very good for a "kit" lens and takes really sharp pictures. Plenty of room to grow with this camera as you learn and move away from the auto mode. The light weight is also nice if you are taking it on vacation (carried it all over Disney World) or out to the soccer fields. I highly recommend this for someone looking for their first DSLR. It does have some limitations if you get into photography. Most primes and wide-angle lenses won't autofocus on it and it can get noisy at higher ISOs. "

"Thought I would never retire my trusty Nikon F3-HP. I tried digital a few years back, but the month-long lag between shutter release and the actual picture was annoying beyond description, and the decent dSLRs were out of my price range. The D60 takes fast, beautiful pictures. The in-camera processing options almost negate the need for computer touch-ups; I still shoot a bit of RAW but JPEG in the fine mode is more than exceptional when printed on color photo paper by Shutterfly or Kodak. The camera's manual functions are easy to master so you have complete exposure and focus control. One caution: BY ALL MEANS, be sure that whatever lens you're getting has their VR mode; makes a huge difference, even with fairly short focal lengths. Definitely recommend the D60 to anyone, pro or amateur.

"Pros: We bought this camera, twice in fact looking for the best deal. I bought it for my girlfriend because her old kodak easyshare camera didn't take nearly the quality of pictures she was looking for. This was by far our best choice for the money. Her mother has a D40 but the VR lense and the added bonuses on the D60 were well worth it. If we had the money we would have went with the Canon XSi but for the money this is absolutely the best choice and she is very happy.
Cons: We bought it at Wolf Camera first and spent 751 with no warranty (it would have been about a hundred a year for 3 years total was over $1000) Then we returned it and bought from Best Buy because we could get a warranty for 4 years for only 100 dollars extra. Now we found it on Newegg for 100 dollars less including the 3 year accidental warranty. I am kicking myself. I'd return the camera but theres a 15% restocking fee at best buy :(
Other Thoughts: This is her first DSLR camera and she is going ballistic with it. We spent the weekend walking through gardens and parks so she could take pictures of everything. She now wants a zoom lense for it. Also, buy a case for it if you can, you'll need to to carry all the lense caps and cleaning stuff, or else the picture taker will always need a spare set of hands to hold things"
